Easter

To start off, I would like to give a little bit of explanation. Holidays can be a point of contention in our house. I love doing all of the secular fun things. My husband, not so much. Especially Christmas and Easter. I can't remember who said it and which year, but someone in conference said something of this subject, about how it is OK to let the children have fun, and to have the "magic" in the holidays. This is why Santa gets to visit our house.

Anyway, moving on....:)

We have decided to try some new traditions for Easter. Instead of doing the Easter baskets on Sunday, we are going to them on Saturday morning.

This year we have found out that Jenny, who is 4 1/2 knows more than we thought. After they had gotten into their baskets, she asked me if I bought the stuff. I turned to Darrell, and he turned it back to me. Then Ryan said, "She already knows about the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus." So I told her yes. MY 4 YEAR OLD ALREADY HAS IT FIGURED OUT! And she was very matter of fact about it and was not upset. She figured it out when we were talking to Ryan about Santa this year, and thought that she couldn't hear what we were saying, or understand. Smarty pants! At least she knows how to keep a secret!:)

After breakfast on Saturday our neighborhood and a "Spring Fling" activity we went to. They had games, face painting, and a moon walk. We missed the Easter egg hunt, but the kids didn't notice, so it was fine.:)

Ryan and Jenny were running around barking and meowing at each other after they got their faces painted!:)

Darrell enjoying the snow cones with the girls.

I found Jenny's rabbit from her basket like this when we got home. Silly girl!

On Sunday this year I decided to try to have a sunrise breakfast and scripture read as a family. It turned out wonderful! We had our Morton family traditional strawberry waffles and I read and discussed the scriptures in Luke and Mark about the Lords Resurrection. The kids were attentive, and Ryan was able to understand a little more than he had before. As well as the girls I am sure. I am planning on doing this every year from now on.:) Later in the day we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Morton's house for dinner. It turned out well I believe, and my mother was not permanently maimed(she just had foot surgery, and we had some close calls...).

Over all it was a pleasant weekend!
